Mr. James Douglas Hood's Obituary
Bro. James Douglas Hood was born July 31, 1951 in Meridian, MS to the late Sylvester Hood, SI., and Jewel A. Bonner Hood.
Bro. James accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Meridian, MS. He attended Middleton Attendance Center and Southeast Lauderdale High School where he participated in various track and field events. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts.
For many years, Bro. James was a valued employee with the City of Meridian where he worked as a groundskeeper at Lakeview Golf Course. Bro. James favorite pastimes were gardening, automotive and construction.
Bro. James departed this earthly life on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Ruleville Nursing Facility in Ruleville, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Hood, Sr., and Jewel A. Bonner Hood; three brothers, Andrew W. Hood, Arthur M. Hood, Sr., and Sylvester Hood, Jr.; one sister, Celia M.
Hood; and one brother in law, Larry Williams.
He leaves a lifetime of memories to be cherished by two brothers, Charlie (Jennetta) Hood of Me-ridian, MS, and Ivery (Yolanda) Hood of Vacaville, CA; five sisters, Minnie (Ronald Sr.) Reese of Oakbrook, IL, Shirley F. White of Picayune, MS, Peggy (Paul) Lofton of Lancaster, CA, Armetta Williams and Mae J. (Neal) Boyd both of Meridian, MS, 12 nieces, 15 nephews, and a host of family and friends.
