Mr. James Henry Horne's Obituary
James Henry Horne passed away at the age of 74 on February 14, 2025.
Born in Meridian, Mississippi on May 13, 1950, to parents, Rev. Robert Lee Horne, Sr. and Lular Mae Horne. James attended T. J. Harris High School in Meridian, Mississippi. James moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1968 to start his journey in search of work and prosperity.
James was a free spirited man that started his legacy off working in just about any place he could find.
In-between all that work James started dating and having children. Even with the exciting life he ran, James still managed to spend time with his children as he saw fit. He spent more time with some of his children than others, depending on the situation, but James knew all his children. James had multiple stories of how each of his children impacted his life, some good, some bad.
James was employed by Rosboro's Chicken, Sledges Package Liquor Store, IBP Meat Packing Plant, Tyson Food, Omaha World-Herald (for 15 years), University Medical Center (Janitor), and Sara Lee/Bimbo Bread (for many years until they closed in Omaha). He decided to retire in July 2024.
James was preceded in death by his brothers; Caster D. Horne Sr., Rev. Sylvester E. Horne; sisters, Ollie Pearl Bryant, Linda Denise Horne; and parents, Rev. Robert Lee Horne, Sr. and Lular Mae Horne.
James is survived by: one brother, Robert Lee Horne, Jr; four sisters, Brenda (John) Avery of Birmingham, Alabama, Barbara Benjamin of San Diego, California, Gloria Cole of Meridian, Mississippi, Mary (Donald) Naylor, Sr. of Meridian, Mississippi; seven sons, Julius Biggs, James Kent, Christopher Kent, Brian Kent, James Chapman, Treko McIntosh, Sterling Duncan; six daughters, Jamese Sullivan, Maurita Lewis, JaNiasha Davis, Lutrice Kent, JaToya McIntosh, and Shantesh McIntosh.
