Mr. James E. Portis II's Obituary
The hourglass of time has slowly but surely spilled its contents and with the passing of the last sand on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 5:00 pm at Rush Hospital, went the life of our loved one, James Edward Portis II.
James was born November 16, 1940 to James Portis and Mary Portis in Lauderdale county, MS. He was affectionately called “Moochie” and was the oldest of seven children. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Samuel Portis.
on May 23, 1954, he married his soul mate, Murrie Waters and God blessed their union with three daughters and three sons. He had a life changing experience when he accepted Christ as his personal savior and joined Lively Stone Fellowship Church.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife, Murrie Portis; three daughters: Anita (Robert) Edwards of Dallas, TX; Maria Portis and Dalphna (Douglas) Harris, both of Meridian, MS; three sons: James Portis III, Eric (Phyllis) Portis of Mesquite, TX; and Marcus (Catherine) Portis of Meridian, MS; one brother, Robert Earl Portis; four sisters: Emma Jean Portis, Rosie Green, Legirtha Portis and Bernice (Jeff) Smith; 11 grandchildren: Brandon, Roger, Douglas Jr., Shae, Erica, Da’Bion, D’Marius, Destiny, Markayla, Marcus Jr., and Mya; three great-grandchildren: Brina, Soraya and Da’Bion Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
