Mrs. Janie Louise Coleman-Thomas' Obituary
Janie Louise Coleman-Thomas was born on September 16, 1928 to the late Lorena and Burrell Coleman. She received her education in the Meridian Public School system. She joined St. Paul United Methodist Church and received Christ at an early age, and she later re-dedicated her life to Christ in 1967 under the Pastorate of Reverend R.L. Timmons. In her life of service at St. Paul, she served on the Stewardess Board for over 20 years, was a regular Sunday School attendee and sang and traveled with the Sweet Spirits Inspirational Choir. She was united in holy matrimony with the late Henry Thomas, Jr. and to this union four children were born. Henry Thomas III, the oldest son, preceded her into eternity. Affectionately known as "MaDear" to so many, Janie leaves the following to cherish her loving memory: a loving daughter, Connie L. Dock (Newark, NJ), two sons, Kenneth E. Thomas (Newark, NJ) and Maurice Thomas (West Palm Beach, FL); a beloved brother and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Coleman (Berkeley, CA); ten grandchildren, Minister Sonya Thomas-Frye and her husband Russell, Reginald, Tavio, Katina, Kenyonia, Kendra, Starr, Kenyatta, Kendall and Austin; thirteen great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, Walter, Vera, Brenda, Ruth, Andressa, Dorothy, John, Nathaniel, Patricia Rose, Gwendolyn, Carolyn, Rebecca and George Jr.; special Godchildren, including Marcia Harris (Newark, NJ), Jeffrey and Gwendolyn Powe (Meridian, MS), Edward Johnson (Meridian, MS) and Carolyn Ford (Meridian, MS); and a host of other relatives and friends.
