Mrs. Jewel D. Gale's Obituary
Jewel D. Nelson Gale was born on October 17, 1953, in Bailey, MS to the late Hubert & Betty Lou Smith Nelson. She was their eldest of three children. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, one grandson, Cameron Gale; one nephew, Michael D. Grace; and her in-laws, E & Lue V. Gale. She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age, joined and served faithfully at St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Bailey MS. She later joined and served at Courts of Praise Ministries in Meridian, MS, where she remained a member until her untimely death. She attended Middleton Attendance Center until the desegregation of the MS School System. She then attended and graduated from West Lauderdale High School, Collinsville, MS, Class of 1971. She kept a close connection to her classmates from Middleton Attendance Center and they always kept in touch and had many celebrations of unity together throughout the years. She was united in holy matrimony to Jim Curtis Gale, Sr, in May of 1971 in Meridian, MS. To this union 3 children were born. Jewel is known for her warm, caring heart and delightful spirit. She never met a stranger and loved to get to know people. She was employed at Kings Daughters Nursing Center for many years and had a passion for caring for others throughout her adult life, assisting many families with their loved ones. Jewel was patient and had a soft-spoken voice. She was later employed with Peavey Electronics for many years before she became a stay-at-home mother.
She departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at her residence in Bailey, MS. She leaves to cherish her memory: a loving and devoted husband of over 50 plus years, Jim C. Gale, Sr. of Bailey, MS; one son, Jim C. Gale, Jr, of Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Dana C. Gale and Ashley N. Gale, both of Meridian, MS; two grandsons, Jamar Gale and Ja'Braylen Boyd; one granddaughter, Trinity Gale, all of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Shirley (Willie) Grace, of Lauderdale, MS and Gletidll';(Friinlcie, Sr.) Gale of Meridian, MS; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Gale Moore of Los Angeles; Betty Gale Martin of Tustin, CA and Stephanie Gale of Covington, GA; four brothers-in-law:Jessie and John Gale of Meridian, MS, George Gale of Covington, GA, and Arthur Lee (Evelyn) Hampton of Forest, MS; four aunts: Sadie Page and Frances (Robert) Hooks of Bailey, MS, Catherine (Bill) Denham of Syracuse, NY and Ruby Brown Knox of Bailey, MS; one uncle, Paul Nelson.,ofMeridian, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed but her memories will be cherished in our hearts forever.
