Mr. Jimmie Lee Hopson's Obituary
Mr. Jimmie Lee Hopson was born September 6, 1941 to the late Deolar Mitchell Hopson and Mr. George Hopson. Jimmie attended Harris High School while working for Sykes Sinclair Service Station, where he later became the proud owner. In conjunction with owning and operation Hopson & Sons Texaco Service Station, Jimmie worked as a Mississippi Action for Progress (MAP) bus driver. He also managed a wrecker service until his recent health decline.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Deolar Hopson; his father, George Hopson; a daughter, Angelia Marie Hopson; and a sister-in-law, Caroline Hopson.
Jimmie married his high school sweetheart, Johnnie Mae Cole, Hopson. Of that union, five children were born: Dynell Goldsmith and Tyrone Hopson, both of Meridian, MS; Jimmie (Bernice) Hopson, and Tswana Toussiant, both of Memphis, TN; a Godson, Rodney (Arnette) Gulley (Papa).
Memories of Jimmie will linger forever in the hearts of his seven siblings: Martha (Charles) Whitehead of Washington, D.C.; Earline Hopson Mitchell and Willie Hopson, both of Minneapolis, MN; Lynnette (Armster) Young, and Berdie (John) Burns, both of Meridian, MS; and Mary (Charles) Miller of Pascagoula, MS; and one step-sister, Pearl Leggett of Meridian, MS; Jimmie’s twenty-three grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three, great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends will cherish the many times they shared.
