Jimmie was the first person that tried to teach me to swim in my uncle’s (his dad) pond. I might have been 12 or 13 at the time. He had me to lie across his arms as he told me what to do. No matter how many times he told me to relax I was too scare to do so. Every time he tried to take his from under me- I panic. Finally he said “Ain’t going to let you drown gurl”. A forever memory for me.
