Mr. Jimmy Ray Hopkins' Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Jimmy Ray Hopkins, 66. Born and raised in Meridian, MS, Jimmy A.K.A Ray or J.R entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at his residence in Columbus, Ohio. He was a U.S Army Veteran, later retiring from The Department of Veteran Affairs. He will be remembered as being loving, caring, generous and a loyal fan of America’s favorite football team, The Dallas Cowboys. Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers Terry & John Hopkins, his mother Betty Jean Simmons(Gowdy), his father Allen Hopkins, his paternal grandparents York Hopkins & Lottie Benton, his maternal grandparents Willie Gowdy & Cora Mae Gowdy(Clark), and his great nephew Willie Franklin III. Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories: his brother Tony Stevenson, his sisters Mary Simmons, Saundra Bender(Hopkins) All of Columbus, Ohio and sister Michelle Ivy(Simmons) of Meridian, MS. Jimmy also has a great number of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends that will miss him.
