Mr. Joe Lester Brown's Obituary
Brother Joe Lester Brown, was born November 23, 1948 to the late Jessie and Ludie Mae Townsend Brown in Ward, Alabama. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Union Chapel C.ME. church in Ward, Alabama. Joe met and married Gladys Sanders Brown. To this union (17) seventeen children were born. Through his life journey he song with many gospel groups; The Magnificent Clouds of Joy of Lauderdale, MS, Howard Hudson, Social Singing Sons of Meridian, MS and The Union Chapel Male Chorus of Ward, Alabama. He was a faithful musician until his health declined. He was employed with Ludlow for over 30 years, where he retired. Joe Lester Brown departed from this earthly life on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian MS. He was preceded in death by his son, Martin; parents, Jessie and Ludie Brown; four sisters, Martha, Katherine, Karen, and Lena; two brothers, Raymond and Jerry Brown; two sons-in-law, Ronald Davis, Marvin Harris, and one brother-in-law, James Ruffin. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: six (6) sons, Stevie (Janice) Sanders, Joe (Melody) Brown, Ronald (Tamika) Brown, Marlin (Stacey) Brown, Tony (Jozette) Brown, and Danell Brown all of MS; ten (10) daughters, Jackie Sanders, Kathy (John) Jones of GA, Stacia Davis, Catina (Antonio) Moton, Mickey (Edward) Downey, Penny Brown, Samantha Harris, Danell (Kina) Resse all of MS, Margaretta & Marganetta Graham both of AL; a very special, devoted and loving.friend, Carrie "Sunshine" Graham; five (5) sisters, Hattie, Eloise (Rev. James) Sheffield, Mary (Henry), Christine (Jimmy) Jones, Racheal (Ulysses) Nelson; one (1) brother, Jessie James Brown all of Alabama; one (1) brother in law, Jimmy Chaney of MS; fifty-one (51) grandchildren, forty (40) great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that love and will miss him dearly.
