Mr. Joe Samuel Lewis' Obituary
Joe Samuel Lewis was born March 3, 1947 in Bailey, MS. He was one of six children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Orea D. Lewis. In 1964, Joe graduated from Middleton High School in Meridian, MS. After graduation, he attended Meridian Junior College and graduated in 1966 with an Associate's Degree in Applied Science. Joe accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Pine Grove M.B. Church in Bailey, MS. Joe later enlisted in the United States Air Force. After completing basic training at Amarillo Air Force Base in Texas, he attended Chanute Technical Traning Center in Illinois. He graduated in February 1967 as a Mechanical Accessory Repairman and was assigned to the 374th Field Maintenance Squadron at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. While assigned to Tinker, he gained proficency as a C-141A Mechanical Accessory Repairman. Joe's commitment to the U.S.A.F allowed him to travel, not only domesically with opportunities in Dover, Oklahoma, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, and Washington State, but also in foreign areas, including Taiwan and Japan. Joe was an accomplished man of God. He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He mastered numerous jobs throughout his life as he provided for his family. Joe was a farmer, mechanic, electrician, carpenter, and handyman. He loved to fish and was an excellent cook. He was always willing to help his friends by sharing wisdom. Joe loved his church family; he was a member of the trustee board and chairman of the church's building committee. Joe departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 16, 2018. To cherish his memories, he leaves: his wife, Stacyette Lewis; sisters, Octavia Washington, Maymie Handy, and Ginger Vaughn and Ruth Woods; brother, Robert Lewis; sons, Craig Lewis, and Joe Muhammad; daughters, Cymantha Lewis, Audria Lewis, and Kim Lewis and Felisha Lewis; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
