Mr. John Allen Blakney's Obituary
John Blakney, left us on May 12, 2014 with his family by his side at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. John Allen Blakney was born on September 1, 1936 in Shubuta, MS to the late Percy and Emma Blakney. He was preceded in death by his wife Jannie Mae Blakney, sons Jamie and Raymond, sisters Velma Reed and Annie Arrington and brothers McNeil, Percy and Cleo Blakney. John was a man whose life was charactized by loving relationships and dedication to God, family and friends. He re-dedicated his life to Christ on this past Easter. He was an entrepreneur. He owned a grocery store, laundromat and an auto mechanic garage. He was an active member of New Life Independent Church in Meridian, MS. He leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters Linda (JB) Moore, Barbara(Robert) Starks of Meridian, MS three sons Joe Bennett Blakney, David(Beth) Blakney and Johnny Blakney all of Meridian, MS; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren A devoted niece Bonnie Reed. Special friends Ms. Luvena Loper and Jessie West and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
