Mr. Johnnie Lee Edwards' Obituary
Deacon Johnnie Lee Edwards Sr. was born June 29, 1942 in Desoto, Mississippi to the late Ethel Mae Gates. He departed this life on February 12, 2019 at Lakeside Living Center in Quitman, Mississippi He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel Mae Gates, Sister, Shirley McCree, Brother Albert Gates and Uncle Lester Gates. Johnnie Lee joined Bethel Unit-ed Methodist Church at an early age. He later moved his mem-bership and joined Springhill Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon. He worked faithfully until his health began to fail. He attended Shirley Owens High School in Quitman. Johnnie was employed by Hankins Lumber Company in Quitman for approximately 40 years. He leaves to cherish his memory to his loving wife, Lillian Jordan Edwards, Desoto, MS; Five sons: Johnny (Camilia) Edwards Jr. Edwards, Tommie (Patsy) Edwards, David (Sabina) Edwards, Lawrence Jordan, Guthrie (Dorathea) Brown: Two Daughters: Linda Faye Dyess, and Velma Thigpen: 21grandchildren, fifteen Great Grandchildren; Four Brothers: James (Carolyn) Gates, Quitman, MS; Roger Gates, Columbus, OH, James (Rosie) Edwards, Memphis, 1N; Marvin Edwards, Hattiesburg, MS; Four Sisters: Helen Edwards, Gloria (Albert) Stokes, Denise Edwards, all of Hattiesburg, MS; Shirley Edwards Ford, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Four Sisters-in-law: Teresa Stokes Gates, Emma Pure, Mae Jordan, Kathleen Jordan, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
