Mrs. Johnnie Greenwood Stancil's Obituary
Mrs. Johnnie Mae Greenwood Stancil was born June 15, 1929 to the late Lela Greenwood and the late Ruthford Greenwood.
When entering this world, we arrive on an assignment. God gives each of us a journey with a specific place and time. Johnnie Mae’s journey lasted for ninety-two years. During that time, Johnnie Mae lived, laughed and loved.
She professed her faith and hope in Christ at an early age and worked as President of the Usher Board at both Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bailey, MS and New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Meridian, MS until her health failed her.
She attended Bailey Grade School, Oak Grove School, and Harris High School. Johnnie Mae worked at St. Joseph Hospital for many years. Her passion was working in her yard with her flowers and she loved her “Fig Tree”.
She was united in marriage to the late George Clark until his untimely death. To this union, a daughter was born. Johnnie Mae was later united in marriage to the late Delon Stancil. To this union, nine (9) children were born.
On Saturday, February 12, 2022, the Lord called Johnnie Mae home to eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. George Clark and second husband, Mr. Delon Stancil; sons: Michael Stancil, Paul Stancil and Donald Stancil; a daughter: Audrey Stancil Burrage; grandchildren: Mia Annette Clark and Randy Martin, Jr. and Randarius Stancil Martin; two sisters: Dorothy Cook and Leanna Lay; two brothers : Gordon and Temple Greenwood.
Johnnie Mae leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters: Shirley Clark of Portland, Oregon; Robin (Oscar) Joseph of Pass Christian, MS; and Veronica Stancil of Bailey, MS; three sons: Carl Stancil and Gary Stancil of Bailey, MS and Ronald Stancil of Meridian, MS; two brothers: Willie Greenwood and Bennie Ray (Vinnie) Greenwood all of Vallejo, California; a sister-in-law, Mary Greenwood of Meridian, MS; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, one (1) great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
