Mrs. Johnnie P. Dubose Taylor's Obituary
Johnnie Pearl Dubose Taylor transitioned to spend eternity with our Heavenly Father on June 17, 2021 at her home in Meridian, MS. Johnnie was born to the late Mary Ellen Williams and Lonzo Dubose in Meridian, MS. on September 25, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elijah Taylor, her parents: Mary E. Williams Whitlock, Robert Whitlock (stepfather) and Lonzo Dubose, her maternal grandparents: Agusta Williams and Ceasar Whitlock and her paternal grandparents: Arena Dubose and Sidney Dubose; three brothers: Leslie, James Harold and Floyd, her granddaughter: La Vietree Lee and her great grandson: Bennett Smith. Johnnie's childhood memories began growing up in Savannah Grove Baptist Church where she confessed her life to Christ at an early age. She later joined the Sunlight Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. WC. Clark and later under Pastor Dan Lonie where she was an active member until her health failed. Johnnie attended the Meridian Public school system West End, Wechsler and TJ Harris High School. Johnnie's work history span over a period of 65 plus. years. She had a passion for doing "hard" work and "heart" work.. She was employed at Brookshire 's Ice Cream Parlor Drive Inn as a cafe worker, Rogers Candy Kitchen as a candy wrapper and packer. She worked passionately as a loving caregiver, babysitter and domestic worker in private !Jomes. She worked at Sunlight Baptist Church where she gave her best in service and never wanted to retire from her position there, in which she truly took pleasure. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, a loving daughter Deborah Dubose Lee Meridian, MS.; a loving and devoted son: Jeffery Dubose Meridian, MS.; four grand daughters one grandson and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn three sisters: Jessie P Gordon (her twin) Meridian, MS. Emma R. Brown Suisun City CA. and Linda A. Hosley, San Diego CA. one brother, Willie Williams (Molly Ann) Meridian, MS., seven nieces five nephews and a host of great-grand nieces, great grand nephews, cousins, friends and church family who will miss her dearly.
