Mr. Joseph "Tunni" Brassfield's Obituary
Jospeh “Tunni” Brassfield was born November 22, 1934 to the late Grant Brassfield and Inez Johnson Brassfield. He was baptized at an early age at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church where he was also ordained as a Deacon. Later in life, he joined the el Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Inez Brassfield, four brothers: Willie Earl Brassfield, Lovell Brassfield, Grant Brassfield and William Brassfield.
he received his education at Tabernacle and Steverson High School during the 1940s.
On October 26, 1961, Tunni married the loving Jewel of his life, Inez Butchee. To this union, God blessed them with five (5) children.
He departed this life on October 11, 2015 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was employed by Rush Foundation Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, First Presbyterian Church and retired at Sta-Home Health Care.
His favorite hobbies were acting as a comedian and his love for baseball. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving daughter, Brenda (Richard) Gordon, four (4) loyal and faithful sons, Joseph L. Brassfield of Los Angeles, CA, Dewayne (Paris) Brassfield of Meridian, MS, Tony (Michelle) Brassfield of Jackson, MS and Gregory (Melinda) Brassfield of Brandon, MS; two (2) brothers, Reuben (Francis) Brassfield of Meridian, MS and Lavon (Tonja) Brassfield of Alabaster, AL; two (2) sisters-in-law, Rosie Butchee and Hazel Brassfield, both of Meridian, MS; one brother-in-law , Floyd (Virginia) Butchee of Detroit, MI; twenty-one (21) grandchildren, twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren; a loving and treasured cousins, Marie Franklin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
