Dr. Julia Martin Norman's Obituary
Julia was born on May 8, 1951 to the union of Burwell and Willie Mae Martin. She was named after her maternal great grand mother. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and united with East Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Lexie Vaughn. She received her elementary and junior high school education in Meridian, MS and her high school years in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, IN. She was employed at Indiana Methodist Hospital for several years as a Unit Secretary. She was also among some of the first female drivers for Greyhound Bus Lines. In her later years, Julia moved to Jackson, MS and united with New Bethel MB Church under the Pastorate of Rev. F. R. Lenoir where she served as Administrative Secretary for several years. She acquired certification to serve as dean and instructor of Standard Leadership Training Schools. She received an Associate of Divinity Degree from Mississippi Baptist Seminary and a Doctor of Theology Degree from Flag Chapel Baptist College in Jackson, MS. Julia chose to live out her final days back where it all began, here in Meridian. She united with Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. A. D. Lewis. She departed this life on August 31, 2019 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents: Burwell and Willie Mae Martin; two sisters: Mary Martin-White, and Pearlie Martin-Clark.

IN; two Sons: Samuel Tony Charleston Jr., San Antonio, TX; and Marcus Jonte/ Charleston, Jackson, MS; six sisters: Betty Webb, Chicago, IL; Barbara Roberts, /ndpls., IN; Betty Naylor, Guntown, MS; Sara Sims, Joyce Boyd, and Gloria (Dennis) Granger, Meridian, MS; one brother: Frank(Cynthia) Marlin Sr., Gary, IN; twelve grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
