Mrs. Karla Denise Mapp-Tillman's Obituary
Karla Denise Mapp-Tillman was born October 24, 1978, in Meridian, MS to Shirley Ann Evans-Mapp and the Late Clifton Mapp of Decatur, MS. She came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior early and joined St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Decatur, MS. There, she served the Lord in whatever capacity that she was needed. She later united with New Canaan Baptist Church in Meridian, MS, where she attended until her death. Karla "Nene" Mapp-Tillman was a go-getter and did not allow anything to stop her from her dreams and goals. She completed the Pharmacy Tech Program at East Central Community College, passed her exams, and received her certifications.
She began her career at The VA in Meridian, MS, touching the lives of many of her clients. NeNe would be in the office on any day, making the staff and clients laugh with her touching sense of humor. Karla "NeNe" Mapp-Tillman was truly the life of the party. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She loved having a good time and creating a good time for others. She was the proud establishmentarian of Denise Treats, creating tasty treats for parties and social events. She loved decorating parties and creating lasting impressions for special events throughout the community.
On November 26, 2022, she began her love story with Nathaniel Lamar Tillman and joined him in Holy Matrimony. Together, they shared many laughs, went on many trips, and created memories to cherish forever.
She departed peacefully on October 2, 2023, at her home in Meridian, MS. She was preceded in death by her loving father, the Late Clifton "Man" Mapp; her paternal grandparents: the Late Robert L. and Bobbie Jean Evans; several aunts and uncles and her mother in love, Carol Hall.
Karla "NeNe" Mapp-Tillman leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Nathaniel Lamar Tillman; her loving mother, Shirley Ann Mapp of Decatur, MS; four sons: Rev. Antwan "Pod" Mapp of Fayetville, NC; Enreik "Greedy" Hall of Meridian, MS; Jareikus "Bobo" Hall of Meridian, MS; and Tereik Hall of Meridian, MS; two daughters: Akaria "Kari" Hall of Meridian, MS; and Brooklyn Tillman; three grandchildren: Paislee Shively, Kynlee Hall and Kyler Hall of Meridian, MS; two brothers: Clifton D. Mapp of Decatur, MS; and David (Keisha) Thames of Decatur, MS; a mother-in-law, Joyce (Sammie Ray) Amos of Newton, MS; a brother-in-law, a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and four special best friends: Brandie Culpepper, India Glass, Jhamigkha Williams and Rhonda Fox Moore. Nene will truly be missed by all who loved her dearly.
