Mr. Kelvin "Blue" Colenberg's Obituary
Kelvin L. Colenberg aka “Blue” was born on December 18, 1976 to Brenda Colenberg (Queen) and Rev. John K. Colenberg of Fayette, MS. What made Blue such a great person was his ability to make people feel welcomed and appreciated. Blue always commanded the attention of people with his hazel brown eyes and his infectious sense of humor. Everyone who knew Blue, more than likely could tell you a story about a time when they were laughing, joking, racing or just sitting back enjoying a cold drink. Blue wasn’t a person who sat still much. He was involved with low-rider cars, fishing or having a good time with family. Family was important to Kelvin and there was never a day that passed where he didn’t talk to a family member. Every time you spoke to Kelvin, he always gave words of encouragement regardless of the conversation. To know Blue was to know laughter. That was one of his blessings he shared with the world.
Kelvin grew up as a die-hard Raiders’ fan and idolized the physicality of Bo Jackson. As a child, you would see him in the neighborhood playing football, baseball or basketball with his brother and friends. Not many people know that Kelvin played both the saxophone and the baritone as a member of both the Carver Middle School and Kate Griffin Junior High School bands. The talents kelvin possessed were cut short when he gravitated more towards electronics and cars. In order to help support his mother and younger siblings, Kelvin gave up sports & high school and started working full time. Even though he did not finish his diploma, he always kept education as a major emphasis in his life and the life of his family. After leaving MHS in the 11th grade, Kelvin enrolled in Meridian community college to finish his General education Diploma. Throughput his life, Kelvin continued his education. He earned his Commercial Driver’s License, became a certified welder, licensed forklift driver, completed entry level electrical tech certification and taught himself how to make automotive body repairs. Everyone who knew Blue as a child would tell you any new toy that he got would be dismantled within two hours of receiving it. He wanted to see how it worked on the inside.
God called kelvin home and he earned his wings on January 2, 2017, at Rush Hospital. Before Kelvin left this earthly place, he fathered three sons and one daughter. he married his longtime sweetheart Deonca Goree of Meridian on March 19, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. John K. Colenberg and his eldest son, Kelvin Harris.
Kelvin is survived by his wife, Deonca Colenberg; son, Ja’Kari Colenberg, son Kelvion Colenberg and daughter, Ja’Zaya Colenberg; grandmother, Isabella queen; mother, Brenda Colenberg; siblings, John T. Colenberg, Jessica Colenberg, Sharon Colenberg, Kenneth Malone, Sr; along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
