Mr. Lamar Jenkins' Obituary
On Saturday, February 6, 2021 Lamar Jenkins passed away peacefully in his home. He was surrounded and supported by loving family members and caregivers during the last days of his life. Lamarwas born on February 18, 1956 in Meridian, MS to the late Mr. Cliff Jenkins and Mrs. Tinie McCoy Jenkins. Lamaraccepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at the El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. M.C. Thompson Sr. where he remained faithful and devoted until his illness would longer allow him to attend. Lamar had a love for his church. He served in the past as a choir member, the usher ministry, Sunday School and the Trustees Board. Lamarwas educated in the Meridian Public School system. In 1974, he graduated from the Meridian Public School. During his lifetime, he was employed as Tutor, Drugstore, Avery Denison, Peavey, and East MS until he became self-employed in his yard service and mechanic business. After 20 plus years of service, he retired from the Army National Guard with an honorable discharge. Lamar had many friends and never met a stranger. He saw the good in everyone. Having a caring heart, he never hesitated to help those in need. To many people he was just a man, but to his family and friends, he was known as "GOOD MAN". Lamar leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters: Lateefa Scott, Tashiba ( Raphael) Roberts, Katina ( David) Dixon of Meridian, MS; two , sons; Roderick Blanks of Meridian, MS, Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman Cedrick ( Deshondria) Jenkins of Great Lakes IL; 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Claudia ( Gregory) Jamison of Marietta GA; Lizzie Wilson and Delores Darden of Meridian, MS; Clara Jenkins and Dorothy ( Jerome) Stewart of Jackson, MS; one uncle; Pomp McCoy Jr. of Detroit, ML A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He truly loved all his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
