Mr. Lamar Thomas' Obituary
Lamar Thomas was born May 20, 1948 to the union of Johnny Lee and Creola Thomas in Bailey, MS. Educated in Meridian Public School System, he graduated from T.J. Harris High School. He was a dedicated employer of Mississippi Industries for the Blind; retiring after 30 years of service. Mr. Thomas united with the New Life Independence Church where he was an active and devoted member of the Male Choir. He was an avid golfer, spending much time on the course after retiring. Lamar will be remembered for being a devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers: Johnny Wesley, Ervin, Allen, and Davis Thomas and his sister, Jo Ann Thomas Portis. He departed this life February 17, 2019 at Rush Hospital. Left to cherish his memories are three children: Daphne (Ronald) Griffin, Xavier Carter both of Meridian, MS and Demetrius (Denise) Jackson of Houston, TX. Three brothers: Curtis (Renee) Thomas, Joe Cephus Thomas and Willie "Rob" Thomas all of Meridian, MS. Two sisters: Dorothy Palmer and Johnnie Mae Malone of Meridian, MS. Also left are his grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
