Mr. Larry Edward Jones' Obituary
Larry Edward Jones was the first child born to Martha Louise Jones on October 23, 1950, in Meridian, Mississippi. Larry received his education at St. Joseph Catholic School, Magnolia Junior High, and T. J. Harris High School. He graduated High School in 1968, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1970 -197 4 where he was honorably discharged. He was employed at St. Joseph Hospital and Peavey Electronics. He also worked with Norfolk Southern Railway where he retired in 2010 after 35 years of service. Larry will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his giving spirit, his love for his family, his church, and his interaction with youth and children. Golf and hunting were two of his most loved leisure activities. Photography, Larry's most loved hobby, not only developed into a professional endeavor; but also provided services within the community. Larry entered into transition with God on June 10, 2014, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Willie M. and Letcher Jones, Sr.; mother, Martha Louise Jones Wilson; father-in-law, Thomas Everett "Top" Johnson; sister, Shirley Ann Jones Daniels; brothers, Daniel Raymond Jones and Brenneth Johnson; sister-in-law, Marcia Johnson Kelly; brothers-in-law, Michael Johnson and Sylvester Betts. Those left with loving memories are his devoted wife, Cathy Marie Johnson Jones; two sons, Anthony "Tony" Darnell Jones (Melanie) and Patrick "Pat" Ryan Jones (Michelle); grandchildren, Essence, Kamiyah, Quortland, and Kennidee; and great-grandson, Adrian; mother-in-law, Johnnie Pearl "JP" Johnson; sisters, Sharon McQuirter (Lonnie), Tina Wilson (Stanley); brother, Servis Johnson; sisters-in-law, Rose Jones, Kara Johnson, Anita Betts, and Gina Robertson (Ralph); brothers-in-law, Broderick Johnson (Janet), Greg Kelly and Stephen Johnson (Cris); a lifelong friend, Charlie Johnson; God-daughter, Samantha Coleman Lewis; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.
