Mr. Larry Wayne Thomas' Obituary
I set out on a journey early Tuesday morning, December 20, 2011, I packed my supplies, and
hitched my favorite toy to my truck, (my fishing boat). I traveled to the Ross Barnett Reservoir,
one of my favorite places. I parked my truck and coasted my boat into the water as I admired the
beautiful scenery. I set the GPS on my boat to track my locations because I was looking for the
big fish that dar!!
After trying out my board and marking my spots, I got comfortable and began to talk to my God,
and I told him about all my struggles. After much conversation with Him, God called me by name.
He said,
"Larry It's your time". I called back to him and said, "Lord! I am not ready yet; I've got
too much other stuff to do." There was no bargaining with God. In an instant, I found myself in
the water, down to the bottom I went, struggling to get back up, but the whisper of God's voice,
said, "it's your time"
Many days passed. Day after day the searchers went out to look for me. One by one, day by day,
they searched, tracking my locations. My family was waiting and praying, along with many others,
trying to find me. I prayed to the Lord to let them find me but he told me it was not time yet.
"I
have a plan my son"
Although I was at peace underneath that water, I continued my request to my God; "Let them find
me!!!" Searchers were still looking, turning over boats, right where I was. Why didn't they see
me? God then sent a white dove as a sign, showing my sisters where I was. The dove flew right
out of the water as they watched.
It was Day seven, December 27, 2011, I felt my Madear's spirit come to the water, she cried
out to me
"Wayne where are you?"
I asked God to wiggle my body loose, Madear is calling for
me, and she is here to get me. My God told me, "it's only your shell left son; your spirit is here
with me." I then heard someone praying, It was my pastor, Stanley Coleman; saying a powerful
prayer;
"asking God to lose my body from the base of the reservoir, this is day seven, isn't that
completion?" As the prayer was going on, Mr. Randy Newell, of the search and rescue team, joined
the circle of prayer and stated
"your prayer has been answered, we got him". I felt the spirit of
my family and loved ones rejoicing as my spirit rejoiced with them
I will miss you all so very much, but just know that you celebrated me while I was on earth and
for that I am truly grateful.
