Mrs. Lavonne Byrd Gordon's Obituary
Lavonne Byrd Gordon was born on November 1, 1947 in Louisville, Mississippi to the late Wilbur and Louise Byrd. She was the oldest daughter of eight born to this union. Lavonne was educated in the Louisville Public School System. Lavonne’s faith was always displayed as she was a faithful member of Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she served on the Usher Board On February 10, 1970, she married the love of her life, Howard Everett Gordon. On Thursday, December 3, 2020 Lavonne felt the presence of God. She reached out her hand to the Lord and said “Father, lead the way". She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Gordon, her parents, Wilbur and Louise Byrd, two brothers. Willie Byrd and John Byrd: and one niece, LaCrystal Hathrome. Left to cherish her precious memories are six children: Anthony Byrd (Marilyn), Annie Byrd (Doug), Pauline Gordon (Billy), Greg Gordon (Patricia), and Howard Gordon, Jr., all of Meridian, MS, and Bakari Gordon of California; eight grandchildren: Jonathan Byrd (Ashley). William Byrd, Pierre Byrd and Robert Byrd all of Meridian, MS, Roshaad Byrd (Angela) of Kansas City, DaMarcus Miller of Atlanta, GA. Jermario Gordon (Korbin) of Houston, TX, and Sydney Gordon of South Carolina; eleven grandchildren; four sisters: Lulu Billingsley (Kenneth), Genora Byrd and Sara Colton, all of Louisville. MS, and Pearlene Byrd of Meridian, MS; one brother: Billy Byrd (Maelene) of Louisville, MS: eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
