Mr. Lawson Morris, Jr.'s Obituary
Lawson Morris, Jr., the son of the late Mary Randle Morris and Lawson Morris, Sr., began life's journey on June 12, 1946 in Meridian, Mississippi. At an early age, he united with St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. D. L. Dixon. He was a graduate of Harris High School. Lawson was employed with the City of Meridian for 15 years. Later in life, he gained employment with St. Louis Blowpipe where he worked for 35 years until his retirement. On April 27, 1975, he married the love of his life, Delois Morris. Lawson, affectionately known as Fat Cat, June Bug, and his CB radio name Joe Simon, often loved spending time with his family and friends. His favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed talking on his CB radio, singing, barbecuing, and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. On Wednesday, January 12, 2022, God honorably discharged Lawson Morris, Jr. from his earthly mission. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves fond memories to be cherished by his wife, Delois Morris; seven children: Robert Lee Patton, Bobby Ray Patton (Jennifer), Jeffrey Tinsley (Jennifer), Terronda Morris, Lashonda Morris, Torri Morris (Brittany), and Ashley Morris; grandchildren: Janeisha, Quadarius, Shinesha, Lakeshia, J'Lavon, Meva, Javion, Jadavian, Auria, Jaquavius, Tahja and Tristan; two great-grandchildren: Amir and Amyra; six siblings: Bobby Randle (Earrie), Helen Morris (Walter), Wilma Sue Bebley (Curtis), Henry Morris, Jeanette Morris, and Loretta Robinson (Eugene), a special friend: Joann King, and a host of other relatives and friends. Lawson was welcomed home by his parents, Lawson Morris, Sr., and Mary Randle Morris; two brothers: Sylvester Morris and Winford Morris; one sister.: Georgia Walker; two uncles: Cecil Randle and David Randle; and one grandson: Shardavius Morris, who all preceded him in death.
