Mrs. Lela Jane Wilkins-Roberts' Obituary
Lela Jane Wilkins-Roberts was born June 22, 1932 to the late Aaron and Elva Wilkins in DeKalb, MS. She was the 5th of seven children born to this union. Lela J. Wilkins-Roberts departed this earthly life on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, MS. Lela dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS. She later joined Mallieu United Methodist Church where she actively served until her health failed.
Lela, also known to many as “Noot” was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She never hesitated to help others along her journey of life. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a son, Bobby Charles Roberts, three sisters: Odie Mae Wilkins Dean, Margie Wilkins Roberts, Ora Lee Wilkins and two brothers: O.C. Wilkins and Willie Jams Wilkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories six caring children : Willie Otis (Bertha) Roberts, Linda Roberts Hall, Timothy Roberts and Ora Denise Roberts all of Meridian, MS; Hannah Roberts-Thomas and Kenneth D. (Jackie( Roberts of Flint, MI; one devoted brother, Aaron “June” (Alberta) Wilkins, Jr. of Meridian, MS; sixteen grandchildren, Tonia Hall-Kilpatrick, Angela Roberts-Annette, Janet Roberts, Andre Thomas, Kimberly Hall-Adams, Bridgetts Roberts-Washington, Jonathan Davis, Kenneth Roberts, Jr., Kendrick Roberts, Kenyans Roberts, Marquette Banks, Jarvis Roberts, Rodriguis (Ricky) Roberts, Monica Roberts, Rayshon Reed and Quinton Carter; forty-seven great grand children and two great-great grandchildren. She also raised many children along the way; four still remains very close and dear to her heart: Tony Morgan, Roshunda Edwards, Marcus Edwards, Breland and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
