Mr. Leslie Grant's Obituary
Leslie Clyde Grant was born on June 4, 1953 in Meridian, MS to Aretha Mae Clark and Algene Grant. He was one of six children consistmg of one sister and four brothers. At an early age he moved to Des Moines, IA. At the age of 14, he moved to New York City, NY. There, he graduated high school and joined the United States Air Force. While faithfully serving in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic working on F 111 and SR 71 aircrafts, he was able to travel throughout the world serving his country. He grew through the ranks of the Air Force retiring as a Staff Sergeant receiving numerous awards, educational training, certifications, and honorary acknowledgements. In 1992, he retired from the Air Force and moved back home to Meridian, MS and began attending Galilee Baptist Church. During this time, he gave his life to Christ and remained faithful in his walk with Christ. After retirement, he worked briefly at several jobs including Avery Dennison, worked on small appliances with his uncle Carl O'Brien, and lastly with his cousin, Henry Lee Forbes. During his tenure in the U.S. Air Force while stationed at Plattsburg Air Force Base, he met and married Carol Bertrand. During this union, they were blessed with three wonderful children, two daughters and one son. Not only did he enjoy his children, he LOVED them dearly as well as his grandchildren. He was absolutely committed to family. On December 7, 2019, God called Leslie home. He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, and two brothers Charles N. Clark.and Algene Grant. He leaves to cherish his memones the love his life Carolyn Bertrand Grant, two daughters Charlene (Bret) Luna and Retha (Phalos) Benjamin in ?alias, Texas; and one son Corey Grant of Meridian, MS; one sister Mary Helen Newson (Des Moines, IA) and two brothers Larry Grant (Atlanta, GA) and Oliver Grant (St. Louis, MO), six grandchildren, a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
