Brother Leslie "June bug'' Simmons, Jr. made his peaceful transition from this life to his Eternal Home on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at his residence in Meridian, Mississippi. Brother Leslie "June bug'' Simmons, Jr. was born November 25, 1953, to the late Effie Houston and Sam Simmons of Bailey, Mississippi; he was the second oldest of fourteen (14) children. He joined the Pentecostal Church of God under the leadership of Bishop J.J. Sears. Leslie had a passion and love for his job as a master mechanic for over sixty (60) years. He could fix anything and was a lover of old cars and fast engines. Leslie loved the outdoors and riding his four-wheeler. Departing from this life, Leslie leaves to honor and cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Josephine Simmons; four daughters, Leslia Davis of Jackson, MS, Shaylondia Simmons, Amy Simmons both of Nashville, TN, and Ashley Simmons of Meridian, MS; and one son, Cedric (Danesia) Simmons of Meridian, MS; seven grandchildren, Andrew Davis, Ashton Davis, Zada Simmons, Kourtlyn Howard, Katilyn Simmons, Kylah Simmons, and Kierra Simmons; six brothers, Henry Houston, Billy Houston (Sarah), MS, Charles Houston, Johnny (Sadeca) Houston, Arthur (Cynthia) Houston, and John Henry Houston all of Meridian, MS; seven sisters, Mary (Billy)-Grace, Linda Grace, Thelma Jackson, Ruby (Joe) Brown, Rosie Brown, Gloria Houston all of Meridian, MS, and Willie Faye Wilson of Meridian. He was preceded in death by his parents, Effie Houston and Sam Simmons, his sister, Dorothy Bailey, and grandparents, and in-laws.
