Mr. Levell Reed's Obituary
Levell Reed was born on October 16, 1938 in Preston, Mississippi to Ruby Cole and Walter Reed. He graduated from Lincoln High School in June of 1956. After receiving a Normal School Scholarship, he attended Southern Illinois University where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education in the same year, 1960. While at Southern Illinois, he pledged and was welcomed into the brotherly bond of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in 1957. In 2007 he was recognized for his 50 years of membership in his beloved Fraternity. In September of 1960, he began teaching Art in Flint, Michigan. In 1965 while still in Michigan, he received a DAGS degree in Administration from Michigan State University. Levell moved to Los Angeles, California in 1973 and began working as an Account Manager for Xerox until he retired after 28 years in 2001. While in Los Angeles, Levell also obtained his California real estate license in 1975 and his broker's license in 1980. Upon retirement in 2001, he and Cheryl relocated to his birthplace of Preston, Mississippi. Even in retirement, he was not content to sit idly by, so he became a Mississippi real estate broker in 2005 and opened Reed Realty LLC, where he worked until his very last day. He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, daughters Delisa and Bari (Justin), two grandchildren (Jayli and Calvin), sisters Earline, Lovell and Ruby and one brother Odell. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
