Mr. Levi Gibbs Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Levi Gibbs, Jr., also known to family and friends as "Gibb", was born on April 5, 1970 to Mrs. Mary Ann Brown and Mr. Abraham Portis. Levi was a member of Faith and Deliverance Church where he received Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was educated in the Lauderdale County School System.
As a child, Levi lived in Lauderdale with his mother and bonus father, James Brown, and his younger sister, Felicia (Lisa) Brown. Levi was the older brother to all his siblings, Shanta Collins, Amy Pace, Patrick Portis and (bonus sister) Michelle Matthews. He grew up with many cousins and friends that he loved and considered family.
As a young man, Levi enjoyed boxing and participating in matches. He was honored to be able to coach "Beast Mode" boxing team, which went undefeated under his guidance.
On August 21, 2014, Levi united in holy matrimony to his forever love, Felicia Johnson Gibbs of Marion, MS.
Levi suddenly passed away on July 26, 2024 in Beaumont, Tex-as. Levi's story does not end here; it continues in the hearts he has touched and the lives he has enriched.
In addition to his wife, his life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children and bonus children, LaShetta Hopson of Toomsuba, MS, Levi Gibbs, III, and Mercedes Gibbs both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Katara Tillman of Gulfport, MS, Tavaris Johnson, Shyla Johnson, Derricus Johnson, and Iman Gray; three special nephews, Jamie Brown, Darius Lather and Jermaine Latham; and one special niece, Sambresha Hudson. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews and many other loving family and friends who will forever cherish dear memories of him.
