“A Time to be Born”
On May 16, 1937 in Clarke County, MS Marzine and Susie Webb Norris became the proud parents of a precious bay boy. They named him Lonnie T. Norris.
“A Time to Acquire”
Lonnie T. Attended Halbrook Educational Center. At an early age, he joined Salem Baptist Church (which was later renamed New Salem Missionary Baptist Church) under the leadership of Pastor Willie A. Thompson. He attended church faithfully until his health began to decline.
His work history consisted of a few jobs; Wilson Septic Service being his last job.
Lonnie T. united in Holy matrimony to the late Dillie Mae Curry Norris. A beautiful family was established and they sheared an abundance of love among six children. They reared two grandchildren, Mark and Shae and two great grandchildren, Kira and Me’Iyah.
He was known to many as: Lonnie T., Lyle T., T man, Nubbie, Pimp, Daddy and Paw Paw. He was a man that loved and was loved by many. He affectionately obtained the name “Big Daddy,” a name that he wore well because it was fitting for his character. His hobbies were socializing and enjoying his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dillie Mae Curry Norris; his parents, Marzine and Susie Webb Norris; two sons, Lonnie Paul Norris and Keith Land; one daughter, Helen Marie Norris; two sisters, Ida Ford and Betty Campbell; one brother, Roy Winston and two brother in laws, Johnny Campbell and Collie C. Preister.
“A Time to Weep”
On Friday, January 4, 2019, God saw Lonnie T. was tired and needed rest. He sent His angels to bring his child to his Heavenly Home. Surrounded by his loving family and friends, He received his Heavenly wings.
He leaves to cherish his legacy and precious memories a special loving and caring daughter and primary caregiver, Bertha Curtis and his son-in-law, Ronnie Curtis; his daughters, Charleen Crowell (his caregiver), Joanna Culpepper (his clown), Lisa Ramsey, Patsy Grace and Phyllis Alford of Meridian, MS and Angie Land of Yantley, AL; sons, Michael Norris (Juanita) of Tampa, FL, Ronnie Ruffin of Butler of Butler, AL, Michael Land of Meridian, MS; grandsons Mark Crowell, Jarmarkolis Crowell, Teral Bush, Allen Bush, Sr. (Shanda) of Meridian, MS and Ray Bush, Jr. (Shaneeka) of Yantley, AL; granddaughters, TyMekia Boyd, Shae Hersey (Tim), TyTeshia Stephens (Edward, Jr.), Temeshia Warren (Marques) of Meridian, MS and Arlena Thomas of Push, AL; two brothers, Herman Norris of Meridian, MS and Larry Gowdy (Angela) of Louisville, KY; one sister, Erline Preister of Meridian, MS ; daughter-in-law, Deborah Norris; godson, Pastor David Viverette, goddaughter, Shonda Viverette; a loving and caring cousin, Ollie Nelson (Les); a loving and caring niece, Annie Rose Ford and two dedicated friends, Bobby and Yolanda Willis; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; sister-in-law, Gladys Winston of Columbus, Ohio, Although he shared love and was loved by many, he had a special bond with his grandson, Ray Ray; his great grandson, Duke and his two great granddaughters, Precious and Princess.
