Mrs. Lorene Nickson Ramsey's Obituary
Lorene Nickson Ramsey was born March 5, 1939, to the union of Willie and Annie Nickson in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At the age of 12, she relocated to Meridian, Mississippi. Lorene was educated in public schools in Tuscaloosa and in the Meridian Public School District. Lorene accepted Christ and united with St. Luke Baptist Church and was baptized by Rev. J.W. Perrien, Sr. She later united with the East Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was a supportive member. She was joined in marriage to Mr. Johnny (Son) Ramsey, and to this union six children were born. A devoted mother and a loving grandmother, she will be remembered for the love she had for family and for her zest for life. Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five children: Jeanette Smith, Jeanene Ramsey, Johnny Ramsey, Jr., Willie Ramsey and Darryl Ramsey; her siblings: Agnes . Persons, Barbara Griffin, Willie Nickson, Jessie Nickson and Alphonso Nickson; and two grandchildren: LaRod and Vybresha. Left to cherish her memories are one son, Robert Earl (Felicia) Ramsey; sister, Rose M. Goodwin of Stonewall, Miss.; grandchildren: Joseph Ramsey, Jeanetta Boyd, Quanita Newell, Sharika (Saul) Cosme-Lopez, William Byrd, Kenyatta Ramsey, Tybresha Ramsey, David Nix, Jr., all of Meridian, Miss; and sonin-law Charles Lee Smith. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren, a great, great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
