Mr. Louis Robertus Hollingsworth's Obituary
Louis Robertus Hollingsworth received his Heavenly call to Eternal Rest Tuesday, April 15, 2014 in Meridian, Mississippi. Louis was born, the 2nd child of Robertus and Rhodie Hollingsworth of Clarke County. Mississippi on May 19th 1923. He was the only son among three other siblings. He joins his Mother, Father and three sisters who previously preceded him. Louis was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Brayden K. Hearns, who was there to welcome him to his new Heavenly Home. Louis attended Shirley Owens School of Quitman, Mississippi. His education was placed on hold in 1943 when he was inducted into service with the U.S. Navy. After serving two years, Louis received an Honorable Discharge, and relocated to Meridian. Upon his return, he attended T.J. Harris High School where he was able to complete his education. While still in his twenties, he became a member of Savannah Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Having being a dedicated member of the church, he was appointed deacon under the leadership of Rev. Rufus Rice on October 17, 1973. Louis remained faithful and a devoted member until his health failed. Louis was joined into Holy Matrimony with his devoted wife Pearline (Love) Hollingsworth in 1949. To this beautiful union, a daughter was born, Dwendolyn. For 64 years he remained a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather happily sharing his love with his family. He also showed his love to others as well as children, and was commonly known at church as the "Candy Man", because he always had some piece of candy or gum to give. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife Pearline Hollingsworth, Meridian, MS; one daughter: Dwendolyn (Willie Sr.) of Quitman, MS; three grandchildren: Valarie Hearns of Arlington VA, Willie Jr (Alicia) Hearns of Brandon MS, & Ernest Hearns of Quitman MS, and two great-grandchildren: Landon & Mary Adalyn Hearns. . Louis also leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers in-law, six sisters-in-law, host of nieces, nephews, god-daughters, god-sons, other relatives and friends. Among those relatives, was his niece Janice Davis who unconditionally loved and assisted him during his time of illness.
