Mr. Lowery Darnell Price's Obituary
To everything there a season ... and a time to every purpose under heaven. Lowery Darnell Price, affectionally called "Slick" by all who knew and loved him was born on October 17, 1956. He was the seventh of ten children born to Frank Price and Annie Florence Overstreet Price (both parents preceded him in death). "Slick" was known for his witty sense of humor! "Slick" accepted Christ in his life at an early age. He was baptized at Magnolia United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend C.M. Webb. "Slick'' received his education at Central /Enterprise High School, where he excelled as an athlete on the school football team. He also played with various community baseball teams.
On November 24, 1990, he met and married the love of his life Lisa Butler from Quitman, MS. "Slick" was employed with the Quitman Knitting Mill for over 20 years. He was also employed with Celetec Title in Meridian, MS. "Slick" was a man of many talents. He was a master bricklayer, hunter, fisherman and advisor. He had an answer for every question you ask or didn't ask. He could put a smile on your face in your darkest hour. On Monday, July 15, 2013, the lord called "Slick" home. My son your work is done. "Slick" leaves to cherish his loving memories two beautiful daughters, Charlette Collins-Shanks (Travis) and Brianna Lashay Price, of Laurel, MS; five sisters, Carolyn McGown and Peggy Price of Enterprise, MS; Annie Pearl Edmondson and Bobbie Price of Chicago, IL; Ellen Harper of Milwaukee, WS; and Betty Price-Allen (who preceded him in death). Four brothers, Jerry (Thelma) Price, George (Kathy) Price of Enterprise, MS; J.C. "Ray" (Lillian) Price of Meridian, MS; and Frank (Gilda) Price, Jr. of Iowa City, IA. ·rhree grandchildren; Lawrence, Christopher and Christian. One aunt, Ruby Stone of Chicago, IL; three uncles, Reverend George Price of Enterprise, MS, Willie Lee and Horce Overstreet of Chicago, IL. Two special nieces who took very good care of "Slick'', Felicia Michelle Allen of Laurel, MS and Basia Janay Price of Chicago, IL. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Mississippi, Illinois, Rhodesia Island, Wisconsin, Alabama, Indiana, Texas, Florida and California.
“Slick” lived a good life and had a heart of gold. He loved his family and would protect them at all cost. "Slick" could light up a room and keep you laughing even if you didn't want too. He was truly the life of the party. He was an extremely generous man who gave his last dollar but not his last dime. His family and friends knew him to have a very inviting, compassionate and loving spirit. He truly made an impact on everyone he met. If you knew him, you will never forget him. We will always be surrounded by his spirit and he will always be in our hearts!
