Mr. Lucian D. Harris' Obituary
Lucian D. Harris was born on July 24, 1942 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the parentage of Mr. Lucian Harris and Ms. Annie Lee Mitchell. Lucian matriculated through the public school system graduating from T.J. Harris High School in 1962. He served his country by enlisting into the United States Army in 1979 and later retired in 1985. After retirement, he worked as a Cashier Clerk at the-Naval Air Station Commissary Store from 1989 to 2003. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and attended Okatibbee Missionary Baptist Church. An honorably discharged Vietnam War veteran, he served 16 years as a Combat Engineer and 7 years as a Construction Engineer Supervisor. Lucian's awards and honors include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Overseas Bar, Good Conduct Medal with sixth Award, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Service Ribbon, Overseas Service, Noncommissioned Officer Profes; sional Development Ribbon, Expert Badge (Rifle M-16), and Army Commendation Medal. In 2001, he received a certificate from the Midwest Region Director in recognition of 30 years of service in the Government of the United States of America. In 1972, Lucian met the love of his life Dorothy Jean. For 51 years, they held a dedicated bond of love and built a life together while raising their daughter Angela. They enjoyed traveling, fishing, working around the house, cooking, grilling, and visiting with grand & great-grand children (Aundria, Cameron, Coran, DJ, Paige and Carmyn), family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian Harris and Annie Lee Mitchell; sisters, Christine Harris and Ozie L. McMillion; brothers, Ozell Harris and J.D. Harris. In addition to his wife, daughter and grand-children, he leaves to cherish his memories, brothers, Howard Harris (Johnnie), Meridian, MS, Warden Kinchen, Hammond, LA, and John L. Harris (Marilyn) Detroit, MI; sister, Ella Carson, Detroit, MI and many additional nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
