Mrs. Lucille Gathright-Temple's Obituary
Lucille Gathright Temple was born to the late Robert B. and Omega Gertrude Gathright on October 13, 1934 in Lauderdale County Mississippi. She was one of twelve children.
Lucille was called home on March 1, 2020 at home in Jackson TN where Jessie James Parks was by her side.
Lucille was married to the late John Temple of Meridian MS and out of their union were eight children. In December 1978 she left Meridian Mississippi and moved to Davenport Iowa. She lived in Davenport IA until 2005 where she then moved to Springfield Illinois and met Jessie James Parks, someone she would spend the rest of her life with.
Lucille and Jessie moved to Jackson TN and became members of Pleasant Plain Missionary Baptist Church in where she served as a faithful deaconess.
Lucille was preceded in life by both parents, two brothers (Buddy and Bennie Gathright); four sisters (Ernestine Saxton, Lela Doss, Eloise Evans, Nettie Johnson), and four grandchildren.
Lucille leaves to cherish her memories eight children; Gregory (Jacqueline) Temple, Davenport IA; Janis (Reginald) Marable, Tuscaloosa AL; Beverly Key, Jackson TN; John Temple, Jr., Meridian MS; Dennis (Stacy) Temple, Jackson TN; Douglas (Annie) Temple, Meridian MS; Dexter (Rhonda) Temple, Moline IL; Lydia Thomas, Davenport IA; two sisters (Bernice Williams, Meridian MS; Inez Nelson, Oswego IL), and three brothers (Tommy and Cleveland Gathright, Meridian MS and Wille (Ladine) Gathright, Dallas TX); 37 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
