Mrs. Ludie Mae Watts' Obituary
Ludie Mae "Walker" Watts was born in Newton County on April 24, 1928 to the proud parents of William (Will) and Cherrie Walker. Mamie Hutson-Johnson, Lorraine Charles and three brothers: Lawyer Walker, George Walker (both deceased), and Wilford Walker. Ludie M. Watts attended Newton County School. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age where she united with St. John M.B. Church in Newton, MS She later met and married the late Rev. Jessman Watts on January 25, 1944. The couple prayed for children for eight long years. And did God open the floodgates of Heaven and poured out eleven children to this union. She LOVED her children and she loved to sing. She wrote songs, and one of the songs was a true testament of her live, titled, "My Life Is In God's Hands". Serving the Lord was something Ludie loved to do. Her works for the Lord were elevated to new heights as her husband, Rev. Jessman Watts accepted his calling to Pastor his first church. He pastored several churches: Metropolitan M.B. Church (Denver, CO), New Mission M.B. Church (Denver, CO), Oak Grove M.B. Church (Meridian, MS), and Mt. Valley M. B. Church (Meridian, MS). There she worked with the women of the church, the choirs, the children, and the missionary workers. Her true passion was serving others, whether it was making a tasty meal, lending a listening ear in time of need or just being present. Ludie touched many lives with her love, she prayed for and ministered to the needs of others, she loved laughing with you in happy times and in sorrow. All these qualities in her reflected the image of Christ a SERVANT. "Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your Servant" Matthew 20:26 NIV. She was a watch member of Thirty-First Avenue Baptist Church (Meridian, MS), she also, fellowship with New Life M.B. Church, (Meridian), she was a member of Corinth M. B. Church (Newton, MS).
