Mrs. Lula Mae Austin's Obituary
Lula Mae Austin was born November 30, 1924 in Marengo County AL to Stella Carter Jones and Ishman Jones. In 1940, the family moved to Clarke County, MS. In 1944, she met and married Leadom Austin and they later moved to Pennsylvania, taking with them a little girl name Georgia, who became their daughter. During her lifetime, Lula Mae was employed at the Roxy Movie Theatre and worked for several families including the Wessmans and the Simonkoffs. She attended school to become a Nurses' Aide. After she finished her schooling, she gained employment at Riddle Memorial Hospital where she worked until she retired. After her retirement, she moved back to Clarke County, MS and became a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she served faithfully as the Head Usher for several years until her health began to fail. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leadom Austin; ten sisters, Bessie Hale, Ruth Mark, Georgia Jordan, Derlean Rogers, Willie Elmer Compton, Eva Tate, Ella Gray McKenzie, Daisy Jackson, Janie Cameron and Annie Lee Kelly; three brothers, Mike Jones, David Jones and Willie May; son-in law, Stanford Jacobs, Sr. On Monday, November 5, 2018, Lula Mae departed this life at Lakeside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Quitman, MS. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Georgia Jacobs; three grandchildren, Darline Spring of CA, Stanford Jacobs, Jr., of PA, Celestine (Randy) Broadus of PA; one sister, Alberta Curtis of Albany, NY and a host of great-grandchildren, great great-children and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends at St. Daniels United Methodist Church in Chester, PA.
