Mr. Luther “Luke” Barney was born June 27, 1937 in Kewanee, MS, the son of James Barney Sr. and Rosie Barney. He married Lucy Tyler in July 1955 and after accepting employment with General Motors in 1966 they relocated to Flint, Michigan. Mr. Barney enjoyed providing for his family, farming and watching sports.
Mr. Barney was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lucy Barney; his daughters, Dorothy Barney, Loretta Barney and Sharon Barney; and son, Kenneth Barney; mother, Rosie Barney; father, James Barney Sr.; and sisters, Bertha Barney and Mary Barney.
Mr. Luther Barney leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Lenora Barney of Toomsuba, MS; 2 sons, Anthony (Gail) Barney of Meridian, MS, Fredrick (Karen) Barney of Flushing, MI; 1 daughter-in-law, Elonda Baylock of Flint, MI; 3 sisters, Ethel Lee (Hollis) Ray of Toomsuba, MS, Lucy (Chester) Willis of Meridian, MS and Rosia Barney of Flint, MI; 3 brothers, Reverend James (Regina) Barney, Jr. of Meridian, MS, Richard Barney and Jerry Barney, both of Toomsuba, MS; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
