Ms. Mahalia Ann Cole's Obituary
Mahalia Ann Cole was born February 7, 1 964, the seventh of nine children to Roscoe and Rennie Cole. Mahalia was a member of First Tabernacle Church of God in Daleville, MS. She was a licensed beautician. She never married; however, she helped with rearing many of her nieces and nephews. Her family is most thankful for this. The loving care she gave our mother In the last few years of her life was priceless. Mahalia lived a pleasantly quiet and simple life. Blue Jean skirts were a staple in her wardrobe for any and every occasion. Cooking was a major part of her life until a few years ago when she left the cooking of major holidays to her sisters. However, she continued to collect cookbooks to add to her extensive collection. Mahalia was the family photographer and the go to person for phone numbers. And 'no' she did not garden. The thought of seeing a snake kept her indoors most of the time. Of recent times, Mahalia was known to sing and pray several times during the day and when she was up at night. She was a good listener and often provided encouragement. She did not sugarcoat the truth when asked a question. Mrs. Sue Ann Bell Mosley has been her best friend since school days. They both attended Northeast School. Mahalia was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Alvin Roscoe Cole. She is survived by five sisters: Authorine Cole, Lee Cole, Christine Wilson (Timothy), Lou V. Cole (Joan), Reverend Mark W. Cole (Lynn), Paula J. Cole and Hester A. Cole, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, three aunts, Peggy J. Ruffin Milwaukee, WI; Gloria Osborn (Robert), Ellenwood, GA,; and Darlene Davis (Joseph), Cleveland Heights, OH; and one uncle, Clifton E. Sprivey, St. Louis, MO.
