Mrs. Margaret Jean Hampton Journey's Obituary
Margaret's journey of life began June 23, 1946, in DeKalb, Mississippi. She was the first child, out of 10 children born to the union of the late Johnny Jim and Bunnie Jean Boyd. Margaret accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was later re-baptized in 2015 at the Brown Ridge Baptist Church. Margaret completed her journey HOME at Rush Foundation Hospital on September 30, 2015. Margaret grew up in DeKalb, Mississippi and being the oldest child, she was instrumental in taking care of all of her nine siblings. Margaret married the love of her life and united in Holy Matrimony to the late Lorenzar Hampton who preceded her in death. To this union, six children were born. They moved to Collinsville, MS and later to Meridian, MS where she spent her final days. Margaret worked many years on the family farm, for Kemper County School system, driving a school bus; worked in Meridian, MS at a convalescent home; and worked as a substitute teacher for Meridian High School. Margaret leaves a legacy of love to her family. She leaves to cherish her memories, six children: Lawrence Hampton (Meridian, MS); Jerry Hampton (Danielle), Florissant, MO; Tracy Triplett, Philadelphia, MS; Regina (DeAndre') Mitchell of Alabaster, AL; Renee (Fredrick) Young and Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. (Meridian, MS. She leaves behind six sisters: Rose (Horace) McDowell, Frances Davis, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; Willie Jean (Willie) Elerby, Mary (Harry) Mobley, Carrie Boyd, all of DeKalb, MS; and Diana (Gene) Powell, Maryland; and one brother: Frank (Janice) Boyd of Philadelphia, MS. Eleven grandchildren's, one great-grandchild, a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and other relatives and friends.
