Mrs. Marie Clark Overstreet's Obituary
Marie Clark Overstreet was born on August 8, 1928 in Marion, MS to the late David and Marzella Boston Clark. She accepted the Lord at an early age and joined St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Marion where she served faithfully as an usher and choir member. Later, she joined the Free Gospel Temple where she was in charge of training ushers. She was a faithful member of True Foundation Ministry until her health declined. Mother Overstreet, as she was a called by her church family, was a mother to many.
Mrs. Marie united in holy matrimony with Holly Overstreet, Sr., and to this union nine children were born. For many years, Mrs. Marie stayed home caring for her children. She later worked as a housekeeper where she served many families. She was also employed at Owen Brother’s Packing for a short period of time.
Mrs. Marie departed this earthly life and entered her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her oldest daughter: Elsie Ree Hardy; two granddaughters: Sylvia McDonald and Linda Marie Hardy; one great-great granddaughter: Elise Henry; three sisters: Willie Mae Clark, Minnie Pearl Johnson, and Lillie Lee Jenkins; and one brother: D.L. Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Willie Mae (Walter Lee) McElroy, Betty Spells, Rosie (Frederick) Crowell, and Lorie (Lucius) Scott; four sons: Holly Overstreet, Jr., David Overstreet, Willie (Linda) Overstreet and Michael Overstreet; one son-in-law: Henry Hardy; twenty-eight grandchildren, sixty-nine great-grandchildren , seven great-great granchildren, two sisters: Earline Clark and Lattie Mae Clark Clemons; three brothers: David Clark, Jr., of Zephyhills, FL; Joe Louis Clark of Meridian, MS; and Johnny Ray Clark of CA; one brother-in-law: Calvin Jenkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss dearly.
