Mrs. Marion White Mcdonald Sam's Obituary
Sister Marion White McDonald Sam, the second of six children, was born August 5, 1951, to Mrs. Earline Lofton of Toomsuba, MS. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
Marion confessed her faith in Christ and served at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, taught adult Sunday school classes, served as program chairperson for Black History Month, and remained an active member until death.
Marion graduated from Middleton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from the University of Souther Mississippi, and obtained a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Mississippi State University. She was employed as an instructor with Meridian Community College and she also served as a career-technical education instructor and student service coordinator/counselor for East Mississippi Community College. Not only was she a dedicated educator, she also served in the Mississippi Air National Guard.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Bell, who raised her and her sister, Rapunzel Lofton Williams.
Sister Marion White McDonald Sam is survived by: her husband Matthew Sam; a loving and devoted daughter, LaShondra McDonald; her mother, Mrs. Earline Lofton; three sisters: Evelyn Acklin, Fayetteville Alexander, and Coronett Lofton; a special friend/sister, Mrs. Linda Lloyd; one brother, Ricky White; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
