Mr. Marius R. Hatter's Obituary
September 5, 1962, a baby boy, by the name of Marius Ralpheal Hatter, was born to L.V. Neal and Edna Delois Richardson in Meridian, Mississippi. He became affectionately known as "Hammer" by family and friends. On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, in his wife's arms, as the rain stopped and wind started blowing, Marius Hatter answered the call of God to transition from his earthly home to His Heavenly Home. Marius attended Meridian Public Schools and Southeast Lauderdale High School. He was an outstanding football and basketball player and excelled in track events. He graduated from Southeast Lauderdale High School with the Class of 1981. Marius decided on a career to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1983. After eight years of service for his country, ES Sgt. Marius Hatter received an honorable discharge. During his tenure, he received Expert Qualification Badges U16 and Hand Grenade, Army Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Oversees Service Ribbon, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon(NUM3). After serving his country, Marius became employed with the Meridian Public School System, where he worked until he retired. His smile lit the halls where he diligently worked at Kate Griffin Jr. High, RD Harris 9th Grade Acade-my, and Northwest Middle School. Marius accepted Christ and was baptized at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church by Reverend Jimmy E. Johnson in 2008, where he was a faithful member of the Ella Jackson Mission Circle, the Jerry Yearell Ensemble, member of the Walker Lloyd Sunday School Class, and served as a Vacation Bible School teacher until his health began to fail. On September 6, 2008, Hammer married his childhood girlfriend, Mattie Leyvone Curry. As a result of this union, he gained two special daughters and a special son. He was preceded in death by his biological parents and daughter, Shalynn Hatter.
