Marvin’s birthday is September 12, 1948 please change on the first page Marvin L. Strickland was born to the late Bobby Strickland Sr and Mildred Allen Strickland on September 12, 1948, in Quitman, MS. He was raised by his late aunt Annie Ruth and Uncle Will Crosby.
Marvin worked for Burlington Industries in Stonewall, MS for over 20 years. Marvin enjoyed washing cars and sitting on his porch talking to family and friends whoever would stop by. Marvin also loved to eat. He loved to eat at the Waffle House and most definitely enjoyed food from his dear friend Ruby Alford and her daughter ReeRee.
Marvin was a devoted member of Family Life Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Larry Leggett Sr. Marvin departed from his earthly home on April 12, 2025 at his home in Qutiman, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents Bobby and Mildred Strickland, his sister Annie Ruth Strickland McCann, brothers: Johnnie E. Strickland Sr. and Bobby Strickland and his niece Mildred Michelle McCann.
He leaves behind one son, Marcus Thomas of Linden, AL; 2 nieces, Lisa (Kevin) Gross of Kenosha, WI, and Renicha Strickland of Dallas, TX, 1 special great niece LaQuita Rankin of Birmingham, AL; 5 nephews: Tommy (Annette) McCann of Quitman, MS, Roger J. Strickland of Quitman, MS, Reico Davis of San Diego, CA , John Edward Strickland, Jr of Gurnee, IL and Reico (Mona) McCann of Butler, AL; 1 brother Roger Strickland Sr of Shubuta, MS and 6 cousins William “WC” Dyess of Quitman, MS, Willie Leggett of Quitman, MS, Elmon (Allison) Leggett of Los Angeles, CA, William (Carolyn) Allen of Aurora, IL, Patricia Allen of Cordova, TN and Toni (Adrian) Allen of Chicago, IL. 2 devoted friends Ruby Alford of Quitman, MS and Henry Altman of Quitman, MS. Also, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. If we forgot anyone, please forgive us, charge it to our minds and not our hearts.
