Mrs. Mary Lois Adams' Obituary
Mary Lois Adams was born on January 17, 1933 to Olivia and Johnnie B. Boyd in Meridian, Mississippi. She passed away quietly and peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2014. Mary Lois lived out the "Christ in her" by becoming a gift to anyone who had the opportunity to pass through her life. She gave the gift of love and devotion to her God, her family and her friends. She was raised as a young girl at St. Joseph. While not as active as she grew older, she maintained her commitment to the lord and she held onto her rosaries for a very long time. She loved to converse (if you knew her you know this to be true) and was a delight to be around. She gave encour-agement and warm laughter even to strangers. She always put her family first. She gave up so much of her precious life to make a difference in the lives of others. She loved to dance. It was a precious site at the Coleman's family reunion last year, she danced and she danced. She was really happy seeing her family all together during that time. She loved collecting photos of her family and always had a special place for them. She cherished all of the memories and kept a special watch over her photos to make sure no one would take them out of the her house. While not receiving a full education, she made sure all her children knew the importance of having one. She was very intelligent, you could refer to her as CNN. She could carry a conversation on the state of world affairs. She was quite debatable in her discussions, so it was best to back down or just walk away. There was no winning. Her strength and resilience is what kept everything together. She worked as a house keeper and later became a nurse's aide under the training of Mrs. Virginia Sanders, former owner of Sanders Guest Home now deceased. She learned so much and acquired a skilled set that if she could have she would have truly been an awesome nurse. Her goals were high for herself and her children. She lived her life at times vicariously through her children. Believe it or not she loved going to see Dr. Gordon her trusted physician for over 40 plus years. Following her visit she made the trip to Mr. Discount where she talked to everyone in line, patiently waiting for her prescriptions to be filled. She made joy out of everything as long as she got to talk. She was married to her devoted husband Thomas Adams for 48 years now deceased. He was her soul mate. They loved each other and were best friends until his passing. Even at a time when her body and mind was under attack, she remained steadfast. She was a strong lady. Her humor remained until the last days of her life. She loved to laugh. She leaves behind 8 children: Linda James, Don James and Hazel, and Ronnie James from her first marriage and second marriage, Patricia James Adams, (Meridian, Mississippi), Cathy D. Adams (Oakland, California), Tammy Haynes, (Greensboro North Carolina), Pamela Broomfield and Husband Henry Broomfield (Jacksonville Florida) and Thomas Adams, Jr. and wife Sheila (Meridian, Mississippi). She leaves 12 Grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren, and 8 great great Grandchilderen. She leaves brother Jake Boyd and his wife Willie Mae and Frank Boyd; and a hosts of nieces and nephews and other relatives. The entire family is thankful for having our beloved sister Patricia James as the primary caregiver there for our mom for the past ten years and for giving her time and commitment unselfishly. We truly appreciate the love and affection you demonstrated throughout her last days. Known affectionately as "Mrs. Lois" she is in a special place. Her memories will be cherished forever. We love you mom, no more pain no more suffering.
