Mrs. Mary Lee Burton's Obituary
Sis. Mary Lee Burton was born on September 8, 1921 in Cuba, Alabama to the late Virgil and Annie Mae Gowdy. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cuba, Alabama. She later united with the St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church in Lauderdale, MS where she remained a faithful mother of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Burton, her parents, Virgil & Annie Mae Gowdy, a son, Jeff Burton Jr., five brothers and eight sisters. On October 5, 2018 Sis. Mary Lee Burton departed this earthly life at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, Georgia Mae Sanders of Meridian, MS, Johnny Lee Burton, Reverend Willie D Burton (Min. Bettye Jean), Ray Burton (Bonnie) all of Lauderdale, MS, Ella Ree Lewis of Meridian, MS, Frederick Burton of Memphis, TN, Brenda Lee Colvin Wigfall (James) of Troy, AL (44) forty four grandchildren, (89) great-grandchildren, (27) great-great grandchildren, (1) great-great-great grandchild, a brother, E.B. Gowdy, a sister, Annie Marie Clayton both of Meridian, MS; a close friend, neighbor, spiritual sister, Adaree Silliman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved her dearly. She will be missed by many friends and family. You are home Mother/Grandmother/Sister/Friend.
