Ms. Mary Lee Doby's Obituary
Ms. Mary Lee Doby is the oldest child born to Lee and Mary Doby on May 15, 1937, in Quitman, Mississippi. In 1956 she relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois, where she raised her children. Mary attended Holy Deliverance Community Church under the guidance of Rev. Robert and Missionary Cora White. When she could no longer visit church services, she would call or stop by the home of the White family. She would ask for prayer for her family and herself. She believed in the Power of Prayer! More importantly, she would send her children (Sharon, Alonzo and Brian) to Church. For years Mary was employed at the Pleasant Rest Nursing Home. She simply loved caring for her patients and caring for others. She worked every shift. She earned the title "Essential Worker" long be it became popular in 2019. After a period of illness, she, Sharon, and Sharon's family moved to Hamilton, Ohio joining her son Myron. Mary "affectionately known as "Mae Lee" gained eternal rest at her home, with her loving daughter, Sharon by her side. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Bertha Andrews, Bonnie "Buddy" Doby, Charles Doby, and Larry Doby. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Mattie Rhodes; her children, Darryle Doby, Myron Doby, Sharon Doby, Alonzo Gennifer) Doby, and Brian Doby. Also cherishing her are numerous grand, great and great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
