Mrs. Mary Jane "Ann" Taylor's Obituary
On April 1, 2023, Mary J. Taylor was called home to be with the Lord. Some people walk on this earth for a short time. Maryann was a devoted daughter, wife, sister and mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to her family. Mary was born on June 7, 1944 to the proud parents of Helen O. Chaney and Robert Raymond Chaney Sr. in Meridian, Mississippi. Mary met her future husband J.C. Taylor in her early twenties. They later married in 1970 and from that union had one daughter, Kimberly Ann. Mary completed her grade schooling and high school with honors. She attended T. J. Harris Junior College, Mississippi Valley State University, USM and Lincoln University. Mary later received her masters of science degree from Mississippi State University. Later Mary taught at several school throughout the Meridian Public School District and Lauderdale County Schools. She also taught at Meridian Junior College. She received numerous awards throughout her career Her love for teaching and educating others has shown not only her daughter and grandchildren but others her strong love for achieving higher education and academic excellence. Maryann was preceded in death by her parents Robert Raymond Chaney, Sr. and Helen 0. Chaney, sister: Gloria Helen, and brother: Robert R. Chaney Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Kimberly Ann Thompson (Dareall)of Meridian, MS, two grandchildren: Taylor Nicole Thompson and Christopher Tyler Thompson of Meridian, Ms. She also leaves five sisters: Betty J. Williams (James) of Meridian, MS, Dorothy M. Bartley of St. Louis, MO, Sandra F. Miller of O'Fallo, MO, Dr. Geraldine C. Buie (Jessie) of Jackson, MS, Dr. Gloria Chambliss (Max) of Detroit, Ml, two brothers: David E. Chaney (Maxine) of Detroit, Ml, and Reginald D. Chaney of St. Louis MO; One brother-in-law: Robert Taylor of Meridian, MS.
