Ms. Mary Louise Jones' Obituary
On Saturday, February 15, 2020 the Lord called "Rest" and Bootsy answered. Miss Mary Louise "Bootsy" Jones was born 29 August 1940 to the late Kizzie Virginia McGruder and Simmie Jones in rural Clarke County, Mississippi. She was the next to youngest of nine children in an extended family, learning the values of hard work, keeping a clean house and faith in God. She accepted Christ at an early age, beginning a life-long association with the New Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Clarke County High School in 1961, living the motto of "Launched but not Anchored". She moved to New Orleans, worshipping at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church and resided there for a number of years. She worked as the premier pastry chef at the De La Poste Motor Hotel where she perfected her culinary skills, consummating in her infamous Sweet Potato 'Crack' pie. Even in the urban setting of New Orleans, her Clarke County roots and 'green thumb' resulted in a landscaped yard full of beautiful plants and greenery. Hurricane Katrina gave Bootsy the incentive she needed to come back home to Enterprise. She resumed her association with New Fellowship, while assisting in the care of her big sister, Ola Mae. She resumed her association with and love for New Fellowship, becoming a valued (and outspoken) member of the Pastor's Senior Advisors. She leaves to cherish her memories: a Loving Companion: Curtis Jones, Enterprise, MS; Three Sisters: Doris Martha Jones, Jackson, MS; Mattie Jean (Martin) Madison, Ocean Springs, MS; Cora Bell Seals, Laurel, MS; One Sister-In-Law: Dorothy Jones, Oaklawn, IL.; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Five Sisters and one Brother preceded her in death: Ola Mae Lockett, Pauline Jacqueline Dillon, Johnnie Ruth Buckley, Ethel Mae Williams; Minnie Jones and Robert Calvin Jones.
