Mrs. Mary Lois Matthews' Obituary
Mrs. Mary Lois Matthews was born November 3, 1920 in Daleville, Mississippi, the only child of Mack and Safonsia Mc Williams. She was united in marriage to Fred Matthews Sr. on October 24, 1936 in Daleville, MS. Mary Matthews was a member ofNew Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church whereas she served on the Mother's Board under the leadership of Bishop Odis A. Floyd, until her health declined. She lived her life as a homemaker and caring for others. Mary loved her family, large family gatherings and reminiscing about good times. Mrs. Mary Lois Matthews leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Barbara Barnes of Meridian, MS and Otha Matthews; 3 sons, Phillip (Dorothy) Matthews, all of Flint, John (Lucy) Matthews of Brooklyn, NY and Lonnie (Sharon) Matthews of Flint; god-daughter, Oradell Cole of Kopolei, HI; 2 daughters-in-law, Barbara J. Matthews of Meridian, MS and Phyllis Matthews of Moss Point, MS; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives; and friends including special friends, Idell Matthews, Richard B. Smith, Virgil Lee Scott, Catherine McLilly and family. Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Matthews Sr.; 2 sons, Winston Ray Matthews and Fred Matthews Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren, Jack Lark IV, Tiffany Brewster and Earnest Anderson; and parents, Mack and Safonsia McWilliams. The family would like to express special thanks to Kith Haven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center 2nd Floor staff and King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church family for caring for our beloved mother during her stay.
